Welcome Back
Dr. Megumi Moskowitz!

As adjustments go, this was a major one for Dr. Moskowitz and her husband. On November 16, 2009, she gave birth to their first child, Milo Moskowitz, a 7 lb. 7 oz., healthy baby boy.

Dr. Moskowitz has returned from her family leave and is seeing patients again. We are happy to have her back and wish her family all the best!

Massage: The Remedy for Mousework

The more you click your mouse or reach up and out to use it, the greater your risk of developing soreness and pain in your fingers, hand, forearm, neck and shoulder. Regular massage can alleviate any “ouches” and soreness. Along with these 10 good “mousing” practices, massage can also prevent more serious problems like carpal tunnel.

10 Mousing Tips

  • Place your mouse on a large or extended keyboard tray.
  • Use an adjustable mouse platform.
  • Keep your hand and wrist straight with forearm parallel to the ground.
  • Repair/replace mouse if it doesn’t glide properly.
  • Grip your mouse as lightly as possible.
  • Use an ergonomic forearm rest.
  • Buy an ergonomic desktop mouse and wireless laptop mouse.
  • Learn keyboard shortcuts to reduce clicking and dragging.
  • Take 1-2 minute breaks every 20-30 minutes.
  • Mouse left-handed.

Orthotics for Back Pain

Can the way you walk cause your back to hurt? Absolutely. Any misalignment in your feet, ankles, knees, thighs or hips can throw off your gait and put your back out of balance. The resulting tightness and stiffness can lead to chronic back pain.

Fortunately there is a solution—custom orthotics. Orthotics can be fitted in the office by molding a pre-cut insert to fit your foot or by casting a mold of your foot that is sent to be manufactured into an orthotic. In either case a unique insert is created that fits in your shoe and corrects the misalignment.  Our office offers both of these services and your chiropractor can prescribe the option best for you.

In addition to orthotics, other ways to correct these imbalances include:

  • Chiropractic adjustments
  • Proper conditioning
  • Proper stretching
  • Replacing worn-out shoes
